Now that winter has set in for most of us, it is time to pay attention to our dogs paws. If you have ever had a paw injury, they are the worst. You're trying to keep them bandaged, trying to stop the licking, trying to keep the dog off their feet as much as possible, trying to keep them dry, and most of the time, the dog ends up with a muzzle or cone on. With winter here, the hard snow, ice, or salt can cut pads. We like using Mushers Secret to place a barrier between the dogs paw and the ground. It is a 100% natural wax that is applied to a clean paw. If you do end up with a injured paw, we have learned a trick to keep it dry. Our vet has empty IV bags that they cut one end open and slip it over the wrapped paw and tape it in place. This keeps the paw dry in snow or on wet ground. We try to avoid paw injuries at all costs!
